Born and raised in Salina, Kansas, J.R. Claeys is the definition of a small-town boy growing up surrounded by the American Dream. He was taught the values of service and community by his parents, Joe and Judy Claeys.
J.R.’s passion is service. A graduate of Kansas State University and the George Washington University School of Business, J.R. built a career working in, and eventually running, nonprofit organizations.
Soon after taking the oath of office as a Representative in the Kansas House of Representatives, J.R. Claeys led the fight to lower taxes and cut red tape for small businesses to grow jobs. Widely recognized as a pro-growth job creator, J.R. understands small businesses, energy, agriculture, and aerospace form the backbone of the Kansas economy.
J.R. Claeys is a Proven Leader. J.R. is our advocate in the Statehouse for smaller government, job growth, and a culture of Life, Faith and Family.
As a father and a husband, J.R. knows the decisions made in the Capitol have an immediate and lasting impact on families. J.R. Claeys is a Representative for the people, and he and his wife, Caitlin, and son, Grayson, are proud to call Salina, and Kansas, home.
